The Wanderers is excited to announce the appointment of Greg Brown as Technical Director and Director of Coaching.
Greg brings with him a wealth of footballing experience. He started his playing career with the Manchester United academy as a schoolboy, spending five formative years with the legendary club. Greg then continued his career in the UK, representing various clubs at a semi-professional level.
His performances in the National League led to a call-up from the New Zealand national squad, where he represented the B-International team on four occasions. In 1987, Greg made the jump across the Tasman to play for the Parramatta Eagles in the National Soccer League. During his time as a player in Australia, he won the coveted Yardley Gold Australian Footballer of the Year award in 1990 and earned 12 international caps for the Socceroos, scoring one goal.
Greg coached the Matildas football team from 1997 to 1999, playing a major part in helping the side qualify for the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup. He has held the roles of Director of Football at Brisbane Boys’ College, was Head Coach for the football department at the University of Queensland, and was the Chief Executive Officer of Mitchelton Football Club before moving down the coast to coach in the Clarence Valley.
After two successful years as Technical Director (TD) at North Coast Football, Greg has made the move north to take over the TD role at the Wanderers, and is excited to help grow the club even more.
“I’m thrilled to join the Wanderers and be part of a club that shares my passion for building from the grassroots up. The coast is a hotbed for football talent, and I look forward to working with players, coaches, and families to raise the bar even higher.”
