Bright Takes Another Step on the International Stage

Former Buderim and Sunshine Coast Wanderers goalkeeper Mitchell Bright has once again been selected in the CommBank Joeys squad, travelling to Yinchuan, China, for the CFA U17 Invitational.

The international tournament will see Australia face hosts China PR, as well as Nigeria and Tanzania, giving the young Joeys squad another valuable opportunity to test themselves against strong international opposition ahead of the FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year.

For Mitchell, the selection marks another exciting step in what continues to be a promising national team pathway. Having now been selected twice and named on standby twice, the young goalkeeper is edging closer to becoming a regular part of the Joeys setup.

The experience will be a memorable one both on and off the pitch, with the squad based in Yinchuan, on the edge of the Gobi Desert, where temperatures are reaching 38 degrees and above each day.

Mitchell’s continued progress is a proud moment for everyone connected to Buderim and Sunshine Coast Wanderers, and another reminder of the talent that continues to come through our local football community.

Congratulations, Mitch — we’re all behind you.
